General information:
The Ski/Snowboard Club is a great opportunity for students that already ski and snowboard and need a ride, or for students that would like to learn. We will be going on four different trips (as long as we get a minimum of 30 students on each trip). Students can attend just one or all of the trips. We will be taking District 12 Mountain busses for safety and comfort and will be going to Winter Park Ski Area (Possibly Copper Mountain for the 2nd and 4th Trip if the interest is there). We get a great deal on group tickets so while it is not inexpensive; it is the least expensive option for most!
Dates: January 16th, January 23rd, and February 13th, and February 27th

Payment:
First Trip 1-16-10 must be paid by Tuesday, January 11th
Second Trip 1-23-10 must be paid by Monday January 18th
Third Trip 2-13-10 must be paid by Tuesday February 8th
Forth Trip 2-27-10 must be paid by Tuesday February 22nd

Permissions Slips:
Permission slips will be needed for each trip, they can either be picked up in the main office or from Mr. Crump-Bertram in B101. In the permission slip packet you find a permission slip from the district and one from Winter Park, both must be signed and turned in with the check.

Transportation: $25.00 for a seat on the District 12 School (Mountain) Bus. We need at least 30 students to cover the cost of the bus. If there are significantly more we will look into either refunding some of the money, or taking a charter bus. If there are not enough students to cover the cost of the trip, students will be informed on the Friday before the trip at school and refunded the money.
(Continued on back)
Rental information: Without a parent present, it is not possible to rent equipment at Winter Park. So students need to bring their own equipment or rent form a local store the night before. Sports Authority and Colorado Ski & Golf are pretty fairly priced. If you show them this info sheet, you will probably get a discount. There are also great discounts in a lot of the coupon books out there.
Arrival and departure times: The bus will leave our school lot at 6:00 A.M. If a student misses the bus, only the ticket price can be refunded. We will return to school at approximately 6:30P.M. At the end of the day, be on the bus by 4:00 P.M. The bus will pull out of the Winter Park lot at 4:15. Do not be late!
Supervision:
Students are on their own once we get up on the mountain. However, we ask that they stay in groups of at least two. One of the reasons that we choose Winter Park is the great first aid clinic. We check in with them and they have my cell phone number as well as they give me a pager to contact us in case there is an injury of any kind. We store all of our stuff in the Balcony House and use that as a meeting point for students for lunch etc… Students are encouraged to also bring money for a locker ($1).
Lunch and clothing equipment: Bring your own lunch or money to buy in the food court (expect $10 minimum for a meal). Snacks for the bus ride up and down the mountain makes life much more pleasant. A change of clothes is nice if you get wet. Delays on the way home are just part of the trip. So make sure you will be comfortable (book, IPod, etc.). Helmets are very important, but not required. That is a decision each family must make for their own child. Helmets can be bought or even rented with the rest of the equipment. Gloves are a must along with snow pants, snow jacket and hat. Goggles are recommended as well as lip balm, sun block, etc…
Siblings and Friends from other schools:
Everyone is welcome (middle school aged and up) as long as the money and permission slips are turned in by the due date. However, anyone over 18 and not in high school must pay for the adult ticket.
Volunteers: Parents and Staff are always welcome to join us. Adult tickets through our discount are $50 and Parents and Staff will not need to pay for a seat on the bus, but all payments are due at the same time.
