Student Expectations

Academic Dishonesty Policy:

All students are expected to demonstrate academic honesty in all classes at all times.  Academic honesty is performing and producing your own work on your own knowledge, talents, and efforts.  Please review page 11 of the student agenda for guidelines on how students can maintain academic honesty.

Students caught not following these guidelines can expect one of the following:

-          An automatic zero on the assignment

-          Sharing the grade (this would be if students allow another student to copy work)

Absence Policy:

Students will be allowed to make up missed assignments missed during excused absences for full credit.  Students will be given the same number of days they were absent plus one additional day to make up assignments which were assigned on the day(s) absent.  Projects or assignments assigned prior to a student’s absence are to be turned in on the due date or upon the student’s return to school.  Students may work with me to receive an extension if needed.

Late Work Policy:

It is the expectations of all the Moose Core teachers that all assignments must be completed and turned in on time.  The core teachers realize that situations arise which may interfere with school.  Therefore, students may utilize two options to assist them in turning in assignments.

Option 1: Students may turn in assignments one day late with a homework pass for full credit. Students will receive six homework passes each trimester.

Option 2: Students may turn in late assignments no later than 1 week after the original due date.  Students who choose this option will receive a maximum of 75% credit.

Individual Grade Policy:

Students are given scores on assignments turned in.  The amount of points is dependent on the individual assignment.

Assessments and grading standards are applied consistently to students of similarly demonstrated ability.

Assessments are based solely on demonstrated student progress and achievement of reasonable and clear standards.

Students are encouraged to be engaged and motivated in the completion of their assignments.

Group Grade Policy:

Students work in groups almost daily, but receive individual grades for their work done in the group.  There are times, however, when a group will receive the same grade.  I will make students know when this is happening.  If individuals in the group are not working, they will be removed from the group and the group will not suffer.

Tardy Policy:

It is expected that all students are on time to all classes.  Unexcused tardies will result in detention or loss of privileges.
