the earth moves 15° in one hour

in 24 hours
the earth rotates 360° (one full
rotation)
·
therefore,
there are 24 time zones around the world
·
each new day
begins at 12:00 am (midnight)
·
each new day
begins at the international date line and moves west around the world
·
as you travel
east, the time gets later
·
as you travel
west, the time gets earlier
·
when figuring
out time in a different part of the world, count to the EAST
·
when you cross the international date line, go back
one day (same time!)
