Not all those who wander are lost - J.R.R. Tolkien
Welcome to class.
Literature and Language class is a chance for our students to gain insight into not only themselves and their stories, but also the stories of others in our worlds. We will explore literature and language from both the individual and a collective view. We will study the works of writers, both big and small, to offer a glimpse into the essence of humanity and what it means to be human. Our own stories and narratives can not only have the power to shape our own lives, but the lives of others as well.
Communication in all forms is one of our greatest human accomplishments. In our class we will focus on strengthening our writing skills and analyzing various works of literature. We will start by working towards identifying themes in writing and how to make inferences about these themes and their meaning. Writing also gives us an opportunity to give a voice to our thoughts and opinions. As we become more competent writers, we also learn to better communicate our own feeling and ideas. We will learn to organize and synthesize our ideas into our writing and learn how to best express our own voices.
I am really looking forward to traveling this path with each and every student and in helping them to achieve their own individual goals, both in school and in life.
