As we move through content we will also develop our 21st century skills. A quality science education embodies 21st century skills, and postsecondary and workforce readiness by teaching students critical skills and thought processes to meet the challenges of today’s world. Developing the skepticism and critical thinking skills of science gives students vital skills needed to make informed decisions about their health, the environment, and other scientific issues facing society.
The Middle Years Program (MYP) embraces the following concepts of the science curriculum: change, energy, and structures, patterns and systems. MYP students are expected to grow into internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. IB learners strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk Takers, Balanced, and Reflective. To this end, skills and lessons related to developing, refining and enhancing these characteristics in our students will occur throughout the year.
