First Cross Country meet is Friday 9/2 during the school day

Start time is 12 noon at the Broomfield Commons.  Middle school course loop is 2 miles.  Check the course map on the link below.

September 2nd- Legacy Lightning Invitational

The Comets Cross Country Team did an amazing job!  Everyone gave it their all and we couldn't have asked for anything more.  Great job Comets!

Meet Entries: Need to be entered on MileSplit before 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12^th

Races & times: MS boys race at 5:00 p.m., MS girls race at 5:30 p.m.

Timing: All races and all runners will be professionally timed.  Results will be uploaded to MileSplit.

Team camps: Please set up all team camps in the staging area (see course map)

Parking: Please park buses in the far west/overflow dirt lot (see map for parking)

The team did an AMAZING JOB!  We're so proud of all of our runners, most of whom drastically improved their personal best time!  A very special shout out to participating students from our significant special needs classroom as well!

Attached is the map for the 9/28 Cross Country meet at Shadow Ridge. Here is a LINK  that will pull up google maps if coaches want to zoom in. 

General 

Viewing- There is NOT a great spot on the course to watch the entire race from. The thick aqua line denotes a dirt path that gets spectators to a second bridge that allows them to see runners for most of the second loop. The thick white lines provide the best spots to spectate from while not interfering with the runners

Parking- (Designated by a yellow P on the map) is going to be tight. Our main parking lots can hold a total of 182 vehicles. The dirt lot to the north of the school might be able to hold another 60-70. Ask parents to carpool if possible and arrive early, 4:15-4:30ish.  Tell parents DO NOT park on the streets in the surrounding neighborhoods. Thornton PD will issue tickets. 

Team tents can be set up on the Community Use fields directly behind the building. Restrooms are inside the building.

General Race/ Course Notes

1)  Boys start at 5:00 and Girls begin at 5:35

2) The race begins going uphill (between #2 and #3) and ends going uphill (#11). I anticipate this slowing runners down quite a bit.

3) There is a bridge between spots #11 and #12. 

4) The 1 mile marker is right at spot #14

5) Runners are out of spectators' sight between spots #17 and #18. It's only about 30 feet though. It's a quick turn. 

6) Between spots #22 and #24, the path gets really narrow. Runners will have to navigate the outside of the school building, a few concrete planters and a short fence. Overall, it's a straight shot, but it's pretty tight. 

7)  The race ends going uphill (#11) and will finish near the center of the football field. I anticipate this hill slowing runners down quite a bit.
