Cross Country (6/7/8 Girls & Boys)

Race times: MS boys race at 6:00 p.m., MS girls race at 6:35 p.m.

Timing: All races and all runners will be professionally timed. Results will be uploaded to MileSplit.

Team camps: Please set up all team camps in the staging area (see course map)

Parking: Please park buses in the West lot that runs alongside 108th and Colorado Blvd..  Buses drop off in the west lot and park there.   (see map for parking)

General info-

Viewing- There is NOT a great spot on the course to watch the entire race from. The thick blue line denotes a dirt path that gets spectators to a second bridge that allows them to see runners for most of the second loop. Spectators may want to bring binoculars to view the runners from this vantage point. The thick white lines provide the easiest and best spots to spectate from while not interfering with the runners on the course.

Parking- (Designated by a yellow P1, P2, P3 and P4 on the map) is going to be tight. Our main parking lots can hold a total of 182 vehicles and 11 buses. The dirt lot (P1) to the north of the school might be able to hold another 60-70. We are asking ALL District employees to park in this lot. Ask parents to carpool if possible and arrive early, 5:15-5:30ish.  Parking Lot (P4) is the overflow parking at Skyview Elementary. Spectators can park there and make the half mile walk to SRMS.

Tell parents DO NOT park on the streets in the surrounding neighborhoods. Thornton PD will issue tickets.

     P1- North Dirt Lot- District Staff/ Volunteer Parking. 

     P2- NORTH LOT- Parent parking. 

     P3- SOUTH LOT- that runs alongside Holly Street.  Buses drop off in the west lot and park there. 

     P4- Skyview Elementary Parking is overflow parking. From Shadow Ridge, drive SOUTH on Holly St, turn RIGHT (WEST) on 120th AVE. and drive 3/10 of a mile to Fairfax Street. Turn RIGHT (NORTH) and follow to Skyview

The race begins going uphill (between #2 and #3) and ends going uphill (#12). I anticipate this slowing runners down quite a bit.

4) There is a bridge between spots #12 and #13. 

5) The 1 mile marker is almost exactly halfway between the first and second bridges. Indicated by 

6) Runners are out of spectators' sight between spots #17 and #18. It's only about 30 feet though. It's a quick turn. 

7) Between spots #21 and #22, the path gets narrow. Runners will have to navigate between a fence and a playground and a short fence. Overall, it's a straight shot, but it's pretty tight. 

8) At #22 on the map, the path turns to dirt and goes slightly downhill to a concrete path.

9)  The race ends with a grueling uphill (#12) sprint and finishes with an 8o yard sprint to the center of the football field.
