When asked several questions on culture and demographic knowledge, most young Americans failed with a shocking 55 percent! Disappointing, right? Especially when America is labeled as a country of immigrants, even though we know practically nothing of where they come from. An 8th grade student here at Century decided to change the status quo by creating a website with information about different countries and their history for her 8th grade project. You can check it out some on her website at centuryga.weebly.com, and while you’re at it, you can even donate to UNICEF to help a child in a developing country. There are donation boxes set up in the library and the main office. Go check it out!

Happy Birthday today to Evelyn, Mallory, Izayah, Emberlyn, Angelo, and Kaeden!  Happy Birthday this weekend to Blake, Gavyn, and Jackson!

It's time for the "20 Push-Up Challenge". Mr. Grapner is challenging everyone of Century's students and staff members to do 20 push-ups to raise awareness of a troubling statistic.  On average, 20 veterans commit suicide every day in the United States due to many issues like drug addiction, PTSD and sometimes both.  It's a statistic that is down from 22 suicides about 5 years ago but we still have work to do.
We can help create awareness within our own community and the Adams 12 community by gathering on the football field tomorrow morning at about 8:15AM. In case of bad weather, we will move the event to the gym. We will take a video of our efforts and challenge our other schools to do the same. There is no money or fundraising involved... we just need your willingness to participate and the strength in your arms.  You can do "wimpy push-ups" on your knees or, if you can't down on the ground, you can do "air push-ups".  Let's "push" awareness of this devastating issue in order to help get our veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan the help they deserve.

Comet Cafe will be closed tomorrow for the Wildman Phil set up.

Today is an A day!

Makerspace will be open all day.

The Lego Robotics Club will be meeting after school Thursday from 4 to 5 o'clock in room E101. Our mission field has arrived so we will be building our obstacles. Come join in the fun!

Guten Tag!  German club is this week from 3:50 to 4:30 on Thursday in D211.  The first 25 people to fill out the German club form correctly will be invited to come to German club this week. The form can be accessed from the Century main web page, then type in "German club" in the search bar.  Fill out the form and check your email to see if you are one of the lucky 25 to be invited.  Come for a celebration of German culture and some treats.  You do not have to be taking German to celebrate German culture.   Bis dann!

Student Council will be meeting tomorrow, in the choir room at 7:30 A.M. Please meet at the 8th-grade entrance and Ms. Swain or Mrs. Espey will let you in.

The Halloween social is quickly approaching. Students, in order to attend the social, you need to be passing your classes. Grades for the Social are being checked and students who are failing will not be allowed to attend the social but will be attending a study hall to get caught up on missing work. Take the time to make sure you are caught up so you can enjoy the fun!

Last call for Box Tops.  We have collected more than 1500 box tops so far.  Please bring any other box tops you have into the library this week.  Thanks!!

Students, the elevator is off limits!  Only students with an elevator pass from the clinic are allowed to use it!

We can help create awareness within our own community and the Adams 12 community by gathering on the football field this Friday at about 8:15AM.

Comet Cafe will be closed Friday, October 20th for the Wildman Phil set up.

Hey Comets! Remember to get your PRIDE on! The I in pride stands for integrity. Do the right thing, even when no one else is looking. Take ownership and be a good person.

Today is an A day!

Drama club will meet today after school in the cafeteria.

Hey Comets, tomorrow is National Walk to School Day. Join other comets at 7:40 at Lake Village Park to walk to school. If you want more information or need the address, please visit the Century website. In addition you can contact either student council sponsor: Ms. Swain or Mrs. Espey.
We can help create awareness within our own community and the Adams 12 community by gathering on the football field on October 20 at about 8:15AM.

Hey Comets! Remember to get your PRIDE on! The R in pride stands for responsibility. Be responsible with your school work, behavior, and actions.

The book fair begins on Monday October 9th and goes thru October 12th.  It is open all day during school hours and will also be open during conferences on Thursday night.  You will have time with your core during the week to see what is available.  Be sure to also stop by with your parents Thursday night.

Don't forget to show your Comet PRIDE by wearing Century gear or our school colors tomorrow for school spirit day!

Attention all artists, doodlers, and creative thinkers! Want to see your masterpiece on official Century t-shirts? We are looking for a sweet new Comet PRIDE logo to represent on spirit gear. Leave your mark by creating a cool logo and win a t-shirt with your logo on it! All entries are due to the counseling office by Wednesday October 25th.

Dinner Night Out is tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 4 from 3-7pm at Tequila's Family Mexican Restaurant on 120th and Pennsylvania. Come out and support our efforts with Wreaths Across America and enjoy great food, awesome service and the infamous mariachi bands. See you all there.

A Big Thank you to our old Zero Gravity and Everest students who came back a little early from summer vacation to help us rebuild the front flower bed. This is the 6th year of 7th grade science's MYP community service project, Operation: Flower Power.
Even though they are 8th graders, our old students showed us much love and dedication to help shovel, move bricks, lay the new bricks, plant flowers and get physics lesson in forces.  Also, big thanks to Ms. Wilson, Ms. Fackler, Mrs. Stelling, Mr. Troup, Mrs. Pearson, and Mr. Riley, who pitched in to help.
Thank you to all who sweated, laughed, lifted, and said, "Hey, this is actually fun", we could not have done it without you! The front of our school looks amazing!
