Constitution Day

Today you may see the 25 flags flying in front of the school, each one representing two states of the union. They were posted today by the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council  in honor of Constitution Day, the official birthday of our Constitution. On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created and today we celebrate that document which was a cornerstone in founding our country.

The law establishing the present holiday was created in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd. The act mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions, and all federal agencies, provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day and made the current Citizenship Day be renamed Constitution Day as it is today.

Today Century celebrates Constitution Day and thanks the Eagle Scouts from Troop 511 for making the flags for our school which help us remember this day in history.
