Log into your IC Parent Portal throughout the year to review your student's individual assignment/assessment scores as well as work marked as "turned in" or "missing."  If you need assistance in accessing the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please contact our registrar at 720-972-5250.  We highly encourage you to communicate with your student's teacher(s) if you have any questions about student progress.

Our goal is for students to be responsible digital citizens with their personal electronic devices (PED). This means understanding and working within the parameters of the school expectations in regards to use and allowance of electronic devices while on school property or at a school sponsored activity.

We ask all students to adhere to the following school expectations.

All teachers and staff have the authority to collect electronic devices from any student immediately upon request. Electronic devices may be used during morning entry before storing the device in the locker and while exiting the building after the last period.

No cell phones during lunch.

Students not feeling well should report to the nurse’s office and call parents if needed from there – not from a personal electronic device.

Parents/guardians needing to communicate with a student should contact the main office. Students are only allowed to use wired earbuds/headphones with their chromebooks. Wired earbuds/headphones can be purchased in the main office for $1. Students with a 504 plan/health care plans are permitted to have access to their cell phone in accordance with their plan.

*Smart watches are allowed at this point - if it becomes necessary we may prohibit smart watches.

Century Middle School is not responsible for any lost, stolen or destroyed personal electronic devices on district property or at a school sponsored activity away from campus. School administration, teachers, or staff will not investigate incidents.

Students will have set times during the day when they can and cannot go to their lockers. Lockers are the property of the District. The school may search student lockers on a periodic basis to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all students. Lockers are supplied to students free of charge to store books, coats, backpacks/bags, school supplies and school related items.

Students are only allowed to access their lockers before and after school and during the day at the following times:

• 7th grade: after 2nd period, after lunch, and after 4th hour
• 6th grade: after 3rd period and after lunch
• 8th grade: after 2nd hour, after 4th hour and after lunch

Students may decorate their lockers with appropriate pictures, mirrors, shelves, magnets, etc., as long as such items can be easily removed without permanent damage to the locker. Writing in or on the locker is not permitted. All pictures and posters hung in lockers must meet District standards. Students having troubles with lockers should report problems to the main office before or after school.

It is suggested that you do not keep valuable items in your locker. Your combination should not be shared and should remain private. Moving to another locker without permission from the main office is prohibited and will result in assignment of consequences. Private locks are prohibited, unless approval is given by school administration, and will be cut off the locker. The school is not responsible for items contained in lockers. Items found in lockers not assigned to students will be discarded. A student will lose his or her locker privilege if he or she: Fixes (jams) a locker so that a combination is not needed to open it. Uses a locker not officially assigned to him or her. Damages a locker by applying stickers that will not come off, writing on or scratching the locker, etc. Damages or interferes with someone else’s locker. Allows others to use his or her locker. Students do not share your locker combination or locker with anyone.

Students must wear their school issued id's visible and above the waist.  Appropriate dress is required at all times.  No hoods or sunglasses are to be worn indoors.  Shorts and skirts need to be fingertip length (with arms relaxed at sides) or longer.  Cleavage, stomach and buttocks cannot be shown. Professional team wear is now allowed.

Superintendent Policy - with consequences of Dress Code Violations

All students will be issued an ID and lanyard for the school year. Students must wear the ID visibly above their waist. Any person without a visible school-issued ID, should be immediately reported to the nearest staff member.

You can order a yearbook at almost any point in the school year. The easiest way is to order it online, here! The yearbooks will be delivered during the last week of school. Make sure to get your orders in early! Don't forget to submit your baby pictures ads for 8th graders!

Please do not drop off students before 8:20 am unless they are attending a scheduled morning study session.  Students will be allowed into the building beginning at 8:32.  Students will wait for entry to the building at their designated entrance (please dress accordingly for the weather):

• Breakfast/6th grade entrance is located at the south side by the blacktop

• 7th grade entrance is located at the library entrance (in front of the bus lane)

• 8th grade entrance is located at the main entrance by the flagpole

A middle school student's schedule will have 6 classes per day. Students will go to their "core" classes (language arts, social studies, science and math) each day.  The other two periods of the day may change each quarter or semester.  Some of the Core Plus classes change at the end of a quarter, or at the end of a semester.

Always remember, it is crucial to be in touch with your student's teachers, especially when he or she is absent.

A standard expectation for middle schools is 10 minutes of homework per grade:  For example, sixth graders should have an AVERAGE of 60 minutes of homework a night, seventh graders would have an AVERAGE of 70 minutes, etc.  The amount of homework will vary with the subject.  Our students are placed in cores which allows for close teacher collaboration which, in turn, helps ensure that things like assessments and large projects are not scheduled around the same times.  

Each student takes 2-3 NWEA MAP tests throughout the year in Reading, Writing, & Math. These standardized tests are designed to show student growth on a large spectrum throughout the year. For more information, please click below and use the practice websites to increase your score.

In the event of inclement weather, Adams 12 Five Star Schools uses a variety of resources to determine if conditions exist that warrant a 1-hour delayed start or closure of schools.

Blended Learning is the use of technology to support a teacher's regular teaching structure.  By having computers available for students at all times, a teacher can differentiate for any child's need when necessary.  The technology also provides a way for students to collaborate on projects, display their performances, organize their work more efficiently, and work with individuals beyond the walls of the classroom.  The technology does NOT replace the teacher; it enhances their instructional capabilities.  There are many different ways to use Blended Learning in a classroom or school. This formula insures that students do more discussion and processing in collaborative teams, which matches the goals of the 21st century learner. 

No bags or backpacks will be allowed in classrooms.  Students may bring a bag or backpack to and from school but will need to leave it in their locker during the school day.

Parent/Guardians-

If you need to request records for your student, please reply to this email with your detailed request including your student's name and what specific records you are requesting.  Please complete the Notification of Intent to Withdraw if your student will not return to Century.

The counselors are located in the counseling office across from the main office. 

Adams 12 Five Star Schools Nutrition Services serves breakfast and lunch each day or students may choose to bring meals from home. In addition to meals, a variety of a la carte snack selections is offered for purchase at additional costs. 

Free and reduced meal benefits are available to households that qualify, applications must be completed annually and can be submitted online at https://family.schoolcafe.com/A12FSS. Paper applications are also available in the kitchen office. Students approved for free or reduced meal benefits receive meals at no cost. In addition, our school has breakfast available free of charge daily to all students, regardless of meal benefits status.

Please use the Pay For It website to pay student fees. When you pay for a field trip, make sure to print the receipt and send it in with your student's permission slip!

Come out for a Parent Cafe meeting - check the calendar and Comet Connections emails for upcoming dates! We are always looking for volunteers in the copy room, classrooms, lunch room and many other places! We'd love to have you get involved :)

In order to go on a field trip with your student or help out in the building, you must fill out a volunteer packet once a year.

Parents, thank you for being positive role models! You can only pick up and drop off students in the student drop off lane. Please do NOT go into the bus lane. You must make a right hand turn out of the parking lot! For a more detailed video, please click here.

The loop furthest south is for parent/guardian pick up/drop off and parking. The northernmost loop is for buses only and the parking lot by the flagpole is for staff! Please do not drop off students before 8:20 a.m. We do not have any adult supervision, and we want your students to be as safe as possible. Students should leave campus by 4:00 p.m. unless they are participating in a school-sponsored club or activity. Please do not park in the parking lot by the flagpole. If you park there toward the end of the day, you will likely be trapped by the buses. If you do get stuck, you will have to wait until the buses leave.

Yes! Every teacher offers at least one extra help session per week.  Please find your teacher on the Study Session Schedule. It's always a good idea to double check with the teacher before attending the extra help session.
