Welcome Back Comets!

Please read the information below regarding the first days of school.

6th-Grade Orientation: We'll see all 6th-grade students for 6th-grade orientation on Monday, August 10th. 

  • This is a half-day of school for all 6th-grade students: 8:40 AM - 11:50 AM. Buses will depart Century at 12:00pm.

  • Buses will be running today. 

  • No breakfast or lunch will be provided. 

  • Please do not bring school supplies with you to orientation.  Bring a water bottle for the day! Feel free to bring them during Back-to-School Night or the first day of school.

Back to School Night: All Comet students and their families are welcome to attend Back-to-School Night on Monday, August 10th from 4:00 - 6:30 PM. 

  • Back-to-School Night will be an open house, so please attend as needed to have enough time to acquaint yourself with the building, talk with instructional staff, and get your questions answered. 

  • Club Rush will be taking place in the Gym..  See all the extra activities and sports that Century has available for your student!

  • 6th graders, please spend some time practicing how to use your locker at Back-to-School Night!

  • All students should bring their school supplies to Back-to-School Night or the first day of school.

  • Please enter through the blacktop to drop school supplies that are collected before visiting club rush and classrooms.

1st Day of School: We will see ALL students on Tuesday, August 11th. This is a full school day for all students: 8:40 AM - 3:50 PM. Buses will be running.  If you would like to eat breakfast please enter the cafeteria through the blacktop doors at 8:20.

  • 6th-graders: Enter on the blacktop and come down the main hallway to your lockers.

  • 7th-graders: Use the entrance in front of the library so you can head up the stairs to your lockers.

  • 8th-graders: Use the main entrance in front of the office. 

Family Drop Off and Pick Up: Parents/Guardians!  Please BE KIND and patient with each other and the Century staff.  We have drop off and pick up traffic perfected IF YOU FOLLOW OUR DIRECTIONS!  I am begging you to please do what the staff is asking you when you are dropping off.  As reminders; you can not drop off your student on Lafayette St. and students need to utilize crosswalks only to get to school. Please use this link for helpful instructions on the traffic pattern.

 

Strong Start Expectations: Please review these guidelines before the first day of school. These will be enforced bell-to-bell every day.

  • Water only. No coffee, soda, energy drinks, etc. in the building unless at lunch. No food delivery services during the school day.  We WILL NOT deliver DoorDash or similar foods to students.

  • Corded headphones only - no airpods are allowed at any time.  There isn't a need for them, especially since you shouldn't be connected to your phone.

  • Students are permitted to wear hats, but not have hoods on their heads.

  • Phones are out of sight.

  • Academic items in the classroom only. No toys, stuffed animals, pillows, etc.

 CMS August 2026 Welcome Back Comets

   MISSION: We empower all students to achieve their full potential

 

Dear Comets,

We are about one week away from welcoming all new and returning Comets to the 2026-2027 school year! Over the last several weeks, we have been working hard to ensure we are prepared to welcome every Comet to a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment designed to provide access to success for every student every day. 

6th Grade Orientation - 6th grade students will come to school on Monday, August 10th from 8:40-11:50.  Buses will run and have a normal pick-up time at bus stops.  For walkers and car riders dismissal will be at 11:50.  Buses will depart Century at 12:00.  Students will enter through the main door before having an assembly and going through certain station activities to learn about Century and middle school.  The only thing they need to bring is a water bottle.  

Back to School Night - Monday, August 10th from 4:00-6:30 will be an open house style to meet and greet teachers, participate in club rush, see the building as well as set up lockers and drop off materials.  Everyone will enter through the blacktop to drop off collected materials before doing other activities.  These items will be collected in the cafeteria and distributed to teachers for student use throughout the year.  Here is the link for school supplies.

Collected - Kleenex, Copy Paper, Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, Highlighters, Ziploc Baggies, Expo Markers

Other Materials - Students keep all other materials in their locker to be used when needed.

If you would like to meet the administration and hear a quick Century presentation you can meet in the gym at 5:00, 5:30 or 6:00!  The same presentation will be done three times.

Student Pictures - Friday, August 14th from 9:00am-12:00pm.  These pictures will be used in the yearbook and available for purchase.  

Schedules - If you have received approval on your online check-in application, completed your online registration, your class schedule will be available to view and print through the Infinite Campus (IC) Portal on Friday, July 31st

  • If you login and your schedule does not appear, you must visit the Adams 12 Online Check-in page to complete the online check-in process. 

Sports - Girls' Soccer (7th and 8th grade) and Cross Country (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) will start the week of August 20th. Registration will begin the week of August 3rd. Registration will need to be completed online.  You can locate the registration link on the Century website  under the activities page. All participating students must have an up-to-date physical to participate. 

Back to School Bash - The district is hosting a back-to-school bash for all families. School and Community resources will be on site. Check out this link for more information. 

First Day of School - We'll see all students for the first day on Tuesday, August 11th.  

This is a regular school day for all students: 8:40 AM—3:50 PM. Almost all teachers will be outside, greeting students at their designated entrance. Students can be dropped off around 8:15 to enter for breakfast in the cafeteria at 8:20.  Students who would like to eat breakfast need to enter the cafeteria through the blacktop doors at 8:20.  If students are not eating breakfast, they should enter through their assigned grade level doors.

Chromes - Reminder that students will NOT be assigned their own chromebook this year.  Classrooms will have sets of chromebooks for student use.  Chromes will be assigned to students in each class and students will be responsible for that device during their assigned class period.  More information on expectations will be conveyed to students and parents during the first week of school and with individual teachers. 

 

Random Reminders - 

*Breakfast and lunch will be served to all students at no cost.

*NO backpacks, cinch bags, briefcases or anything else will be carried through the day.

*Cell phones will not be out during the school day.
