Century Middle School Student inspires those around him

The return of Middle School sports has been a phenomenal outside of the classroom learning experience for students. We kicked off the 2022-2023 school year with Cross Country and as we get ready to transition to Basketball for our second sport, we want to highlight the story of a student whose determination and grit inspired those around him.

Middle School sports aren't just for the fastest and the strongest. There's huge impact for many. A Century Middle School student and two para professionals ran the race together. The positive support and encourage for this student not only from the two staff working with him, but also from Horizon High School students watching the race, and his friends and family on the course cheering for him embodied the power of the opportunities sports bring.

This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Outside-the-Classroom Learning. Sharing stories about how the district offers students multiple learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom providing various pathways to success.
