Students dive deep into Hispanic Culture

Students dive deep into Hispanic Culture

During Hispanic Heritage Month, students at Century Middle School showcased their creativity and learned about notable Hispanic icons. 6th graders, along with the help of some 7th and 8th graders, worked to put together this collaborative poster, and it turned out beautiful. Every piece of the puzzle matters, just like every student matters, and it is great to see their pride when they walk by their Spanish classroom, and they show their friends the piece they worked on. 7th and 8th graders had the opportunity to research and learn about more than 45 influential historical figures, artists, athletes, and leaders within the Hispanic community. In their research, students needed to find their person’s biography timeline, quote, lesson learned, and characteristics.

"My students enjoyed learning about their assigned person, while I loved promoting influential people in the Hispanic community from the 1700s to Jennifer Lopez, and my students' all-time favorite, Selena Quintanilla." - Tania Whelan
