LaShauna began her teaching journey, in 2005, as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. In 2007, she joined Plattsburgh City School District as a middle school science teacher. Last year she was an assistant principal at Westlake and for the 3 years prior to that she taught at a Title 1 urban high school in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. In addition to teaching, her experience includes being a teacher leader, a professional learning community (PLC) lead, a professional development leader and a teacher union representative. Born and raised in Kansas, she attended the University of Kansas and then transferred to the State University of New York at Plattsburgh earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Masters of Science in Adolescence Education. In July 2018, she graduated from Queens University School of Executive Leadership earning her administration licensure. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, Kristin. They enjoy traveling, sailing and hiking.
