Hello wonderful humans of planet earth! My name is Mr. Hand, and I will be teaching Language and Literature this year, because words are delicious! This is my second year at Century, so I am stoked to teach some of the same lovely humans, and giddy to meet new brilliant humans.
I studied philosophy and English literature at the University of Colorado Denver. This fall, I am starting my master's degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education because my brain must grow! Outside of academia, I have studied marketing, communication, and leadership. I ran a business for three years, but it became too distracting to my work as a teacher, so now I am 100% teacher.
When I'm not in the classroom, I'm usually thinking about the wonderful world of education and school. When I'm not thinking about education or school, I am living the delightfully chaotic life of a husband and father of three. I like to stand on top of mountains. I like fountain pens (fine nibs are my favorite!). I have an obscene obsession with golf. I know how why the chicken crossed the road. I like most kinds of music, especially metal and classic hip-hop. I wrote "Die Hard: The Musical." And most importantly, I love the art of teaching and the next generation.
My study sessions will be on Fridays from 8:15 - 8:45; we will meet at the main entrance so that I may let you in. Please check my website which will include a running synopsis of what we did in class for the day (this is for parents and students who were absent). Cheers!
